New Zealand pricklies along the Te Araroa Trail

These are some seriouis Nettles
While Gorse is perhaps the worst of the prickly plants because of it's large strong shrub like structure and tendency to completely cover the land making travel through over grown areas impossible, I had a run in with some grass in the last few weeks up high in the alpine that would literally cut my leg if it touched it. Called razor grass, or something like that, and I learned to avoid it quickly.

These two plants (I don't know their names), are sparse and easy to avoid, but I don't want to fall into either one, that's for sure!
