Intent is not enough

Recycling.

At the dump in Bellingham, the other day, a classic county builder with a big truck and trailer was dumping a bunch of lumber. So much lumber that to get it on the trailer they pulled many of the nails and stacked it. I asked if he knew about the ReStore just 5 miles down the road.

"It just ain't worth the time and besides, I don't care--what?--are you one of those greenies?" was the reply when he realized I was taking material from the pile he was creating!

It's true. When I go to the dump I feel like an alien--green and mute as I watch the needless waste and destruction of my home world.

Well, we, at dbBrad, do care!

We care enough that we take the time to bundle all the parts together so they don't get lost. Too many fixtures, appliances, pieces of furniture and tools are rendered garbage because one little part gets lost or broken.

Recycled materials bundled in square foot equivalents ensures protected edges, quality, quantity, ease of handling and makes the Re-Store's job of re-selling easier.

Recycling isn't just dropping materials into the right bin. It's making sure the contents of the bins get recycled, that the materials make it to where they can be re-used.

In order for someone else to use a recycled product, it needs to be properly deconstructed, unhooked, kept dry, all parts taped together and delivered to a new home in a usable condition.
